SENIOR WOMAN OF THE YEAR - SENIOR MAN OF THE YEAR | Dr. Richard Jewell ’67, President
 
The awards for Senior Woman of the Year and the Senior Man of the Year are presented jointly by Mortar Board and ODK. The selections are made on the basis of scholarship, leadership and service. It is one of the highest honors that the College can bestow.

Scroll and Key is the highest scholastic honorary on campus. Annually, senior men and women with high scholastic achievement who have contributed outstanding leadership and service to the College are tapped for membership.

Mortar Board is the national senior honorary on campus. Annually, junior men and women with high scholastic achievement who have contributed outstanding leadership and service to the College are tapped for membership.
 
 

BETA MU CIRCLE OF OMICRON DELTA KAPPA | Peter Foster ’13

Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes seniors and juniors for their outstanding leadership to the College in the areas of scholarship, athletics, social service, religious activities, campus government, journalism, speech, mass media and the creative and performing arts.  

 

OUTSTANDING SENIOR BIOLOGY– OUTSTANDING SENIOR MOLECULAR BIOLOGY MAJOR AWARD | Dr. Fred J. Brenner 

These Beta Beta Beta annual awards are given to a senior biology major and a senior molecular biology major who show outstanding ability in the fields of biological sciences.

 

EDWARD W. AND SARA K. NAEGELE AWARD | Dr. Fred J. Brenner

A scholarship award presented annually to a junior majoring in the chemistry, biology or physics departments who has demonstrated outstanding major QPA achievement.

 

THE ANDREW S. KORIM FAMILY HERITAGE ENDOWMENT | Dr. William P. Anderson Jr.

This prestigious merit scholarship recognizes outstanding, rising senior scholars whose demonstrated contribution to original and creative thought is exemplary and whose major lies within one of the following departments:  economics, chemistry, biology, engineering or physics.

SHOCKEY GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD | Dr. Stacy G. Birmingham

The Shockey Graduate Scholarship Award is offered to a Grove City College senior who is motivated and academically qualified, but not financially able, to begin a program of post-graduate study in science, engineering and mathematics. The award provides funds to cover the cost of tuition for the initial semester of graduate school.

 

BECHTELL AWARD | Dr. Stephen P. Jenkins

Established in 1951, this annual award is given to an outstanding senior in the biological and physical sciences.

 

SWEZEY/JANICKI SCIENTIFIC AWARD | Dr. Stephen P. Jenkins

This award is given to the superior senior science research project.

RICHARD A. LEO SCHOLARSHIP | Dr. D.J. Wagner 

This scholarship is awarded to a junior physics major who has demonstrated academic excellence and exceptional potential in the field of physics.

KEMIKOS AWARD | James Alburger ’13

An award presented by Kemikos to an outstanding senior student in the field of chemistry.
 
CROMBIE ALLEN PEACE PRIZE AWARD | President of Pi Gamma Mu
 
Pi Gamma Mu is a national social science honorary fraternity. Its purpose is to improve scholarship in the social studies and to achieve synthesis therein. A monetary prize is awarded to the member who best serves the organization.
 
PHI ALPHA THETA HISTORY PRIZE | Dr. Gary S. Smith ’72  
 

This history award is given to a senior for scholarship, historical research and writing, and contributions to the historical discipline on campus.

 
ROGER CLARK DAWES PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING AWARD | Joseph R. Gaus, PE, LEED AP
 

This annual award is presented to the most outstanding engineering graduate.

 
PHILIP N. CARPENTER SENIOR MATHEMATICS AWARD | Dr. Dale L. McIntyre
 

This award is given by the faculty of the Department of Mathematics to the senior mathematics major who, in the opinion of the department, possesses the highest achievement and potential of the graduating mathematics majors. This award is based on high mathematics major QPA and overall QPA with extracurricular activities and moral character also considered. 

 
FRANKLIN C. KETLER MATHEMATICS PRIZE | Dr. Dale L. McIntyre

This monetary reward, established by the estate of Dr. Franklin C. Ketler Jr., is awarded to the graduating senior who has completed at least 28 credit hours in mathematics and has earned the highest GPA in these courses.
 
THELMA BALTZ MORROW AWARDS IN ENGLISH | Dr. James G. Dixon III
 
The Morrow Award is presented annually to the three students who, in the judgment of the English faculty, have consistently demonstrated the highest standards of excellence in the use of the English language.
 

HILDA ADAM KRING AWARD IN ENGLISH | Dr. James G. Dixon III

This scholarship is awarded annually to a junior English major for use in the senior year. Selection criteria include academic achievement and creative potential for professional success in the student’s chosen field.

 
ELINOR M. CARUTHERS FRENCH PRIZE | Dr. Rebecca C. Harmo
 

The winner of the French senior competition is recognized with the presentation of this award.

This award is presented in honor of Dr. J.B. Ladd, who served the College for 30 years both as a professor of French and chair of the Department of Modern Languages, to the winner of this year’s French junior competition.

The Robert H. Sisler Award is presented by Alpha Mu Gamma, the national foreign language honorary, to an outstanding modern language senior who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, concern for others and joie de vivre.

 
 
 

DAVID E. McKILLOP SCHOLARSHIP | Cynthia A. Forrester

 
 
 

This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. McKillop, who served the College and the History Department for 30 years. The recipient must show seriousness of purpose, creative potential, academic achievement and likelihood of success in the study of law or history.

The Ross A. Foster Scholarship honors Dr. Ross Foster who for more than 30 years at Grove City College showed excellence in teaching and administration. The award is given to a senior student of proven ability in Christian Thought who will be entering an approved seminary upon graduation.

This award is given to the student or students whose essay, chosen by Religion faculty, best represents “the nature, purpose, or consequences of a Christian education in contemporary society – Christian principles and values that contribute to one’s life in society, such as those that Grove City College tries to endow in its students.”
