College professor selected to guest conduct PMEA Jazz Band Festival


​Director of Bands and Professor of Music at Grove City College Dr. Joseph M. Pisano ’94 was recently selected to guest conduct the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Two Jazz Band Festival. The band festival will take place Feb. 22, at Conneaut Area Senior High School in Linesville, Pa. and is comprised of the best jazz students from several counties.
In addition, Pisano was selected to present a paper about recent trends in music education technology at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas in February 2014, and he will be representing several Pennsylvania music organizations at the 2013 Midwest Clinic in Chicago in December.
At Grove City College, Pisano also teaches courses in instrumental conducting and jazz. Abroad, he is a frequent guest instrumental conductor, adjudicator, jazz trumpet player and fine arts advocate. He is the founder of many popular music, education and technology websites, including MusTech.Net and the Facebook Music Teachers and Jazz Educators Groups. He is currently the educational editor for the print magazines, IN-Tune Monthly and DCI Magazine.
