Grove City earns College of Distinction recognitions

7/26/2016

Grove City College’s engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and excellent outcomes qualify it as a 2016-2017 College of Distinction.

This latest recognition that Grove City College stands apart from most schools comes from a college selection website that looks beyond statistics and surveys that dominate college rankings – and skew them to colleges that most students can’t gain acceptance to or afford – to get to the heart of the educational experience.

“A truly great school must emphasize core competence such as critical thinking, writing, oral communication, research and global perspectives. They must also offer dynamic, out-of-classroom learning, intensive study abroad programs, and other experiential learning opportunities,” according to Wes Creel, founder of Colleges of Distinction.

“Grove City College continues to provide an innovative, engaged experience that prepares students for successful careers, active citizenship and lifelong learning,” Creel added.

The College, which offers a rich academic experience at an amazing value in a Christian community of learners, was recognized by Colleges of Distinction as a top school nationally, in Pennsylvania and as a Christian college. Grove City College has been recognized as College of Distinction for four years running.

A College of Distinction is nationally recognized by education professionals as an excellent school, strongly focused on teaching undergraduates, home to a wide variety of innovative learning experiences, an active campus with many opportunities for personal development, and highly valued by graduate schools and employers for its outstanding preparation.

“It is wonderful to see Grove City College identified again as a College of Distinction, and especially as a Christian College of Distinction,” Jacki Muller, senior director of Marketing & Communications, said. “The connection between faith and learning is the cornerstone of our rich academic tradition and a key part of what makes the College stand apart from other institutions.”
