Forbes raises Grove City College profile

8/4/2014

Grove City College is moving up on Forbes magazine’s 2014 list of America’s Top Colleges. The College is ranked higher nationally, regionally, and among its private college peers than it was last year.

Forbes ranked the College 148 out of 650 colleges and universities it surveyed, up from 192 last year. The numbers were also better for the College in Forbes’ sub-categories. Grove City was ranked 67 (up from 85) among Northeast Colleges, which includes all of the Ivy League and eight of the Forbes’ top 10. Among private schools, Grove City was ranked 116, up from 137.

Forbes is one of several publications that usher in the new academic year by releasing rankings of colleges and universities. Money magazine recently rated Grove City in the top 10 percent of “Best Schools for Your Money.”

Grove City College has been identified in the past as a college that provides an excellent return on investment (ROI) for students. With a tuition rate that’s less than half the cost of competitive private schools, Grove City College provides an excellent education in a thoroughly Christian environment at an affordable price.

Forbes noted that a focus on how graduates do after college was part of its ranking formula.

“What sets our calculation of 650 colleges and universities apart from other rankings is our firm belief in ‘output’ over ‘input.’ We’re not all that interested in what gets a student into college. Our sights are set directly on ROI: What are students getting out of college,” according to Caroline Howard of Forbes.
