I chose to attend Grove City College because I wanted a Christian college that offered an accredited engineering program at a reasonable cost. When I visited campus and toured the Department of Mechanical Engineering, I was not disappointed. The engineering faculty, resources and students made a tremendous impression on me, so I applied.
The mechanical engineering major features a long list of major-related and liberal arts courses, but I have found all of the courses to be well taught, informative and engaging. The engineering courses are exceptional and the liberal arts courses have broadened my understanding of the world.
One of the most unique and rewarding experiences I’ve had as a mechanical engineering student was the opportunity to study cross-cultural engineering management abroad in France. The trip was a unique and enlightening experience both from an academic and cultural standpoint.
Also, many of my courses, projects, and experiences at Grove City College have complemented my experience as an intern at Siemens Industry, Inc. I started this internship in high school doing miscellaneous administrative tasks such as simple record-keeping and data entry, but thanks to the skills I have acquired at Grove City College, I have been promoted to work on product development and testing, technical writing, Computer Aided Design (CAD), as well as other aspects of design engineering.
The rigors of the mechanical engineering program at Grove City College have given me the tools to expand and utilize my engineering skill set. As a result, I know that I am prepared to enter my upcoming vocation with excellence for the glory of God.
