Tedford elected to Pa.-Del. String Teachers Association office

Grove City College Associate Professor of Music and Director of Orchestral Activities Dr. Jeffrey M. Tedford ’00 was recently elected by his peers as president-elect of the Pennsylvania-Delaware String Teachers Association (PADESTA).

Tedford directs the College and Chamber Orchestras and teaches string methods and conducting classes. He also works with student music teachers and the College’s string quartet, gallery brass, cantita, trumpet choir and tuba choir ensembles. He received his undergraduate degree in music education from Grove City College, his masters in conducting from Carnegie Mellon University and his doctorate in music education from Shenandoah University.

His work with PADESTA will focus on organizing meetings and events throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware, supervising string education curriculum developments and advocating for string education.

Tedford is serving a six-year term with the organization, beginning with a two-year stretch as president-elect. He’ll serve as president for two years and then past president for the final two years.

PADESTA is a chapter of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), which is a membership organization for string and orchestra teachers and players that helps develop and refine their careers. ASTA’s members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. The organization provides a vast array of services, including instrument insurance, an award-winning scholarly journal, annual professional development opportunities and access to collegial network of colleagues throughout the string profession.
