Pittsburgh Youth Chorus presents concert in Harbison

Grove City College welcomes the 146 young singers of the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus (PYC) for a spring community concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 14 in Harbison Chapel on campus.

The concert will feature the Grove City Satellite Choir, which trains at the College. The concert, PYC’s first Grove City College performance, is free and open to the public.

The PYC is comprised of three choirs representing a progression of musical skills and talents: Troubadours, Talisman, and Bel Canto Singers.

PYC recently expanded its outreach to the Grove City region with the satellite youth choir program at Grove City College. The youth chorus rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings September through April and has continued to grow since its 2016 inception.

Grove City College Music Education students have the opportunity to observe and work with the choir and Becky Sopher, adjunct piano instructor, is their accompanist.

Auditions for the choir will be held at the College's Pew Fine Arts Center from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 2. For more information, call 412-281-4790.

Currently, in its 34th season, PYC is the region’s premier choral ensemble and is dedicated to providing professional-level choral education and performance opportunities to a diverse group of children, helping them realize their innate artistic potential and providing opportunities for them to share these experiences to the enrichment of their families and communities.
