College partners with Praxis for on-campus academy

Grove City College’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation is partnering with Praxis to prepare students motivated by their faith to create and lead ventures that matter for the future of society.

Praxis is a venture group that works with a growing portfolio of Christ-following entrepreneurs to create high-impact organizations. Praxis Accelerators have worked with 130 entrepreneurs around the globe, creating over 2,500 jobs and over $130 million in revenue. Praxis Academy has trained 350 undergraduate and recent graduates, and equipped twenty Future Founders through a rigorous summer-long entrepreneurial apprenticeship program.

During the course of the partnership, Grove City College students, faculty and administration will engage with the Praxis team and community of startups – which includes leading entrepreneurs, scholars, and cultural thinkers.

“Praxis Academy is thrilled to partner with Grove City College. We hope to see a generation of students serious about their Christian faith create entrepreneurial solutions to some of our world’s biggest problems, and know this aligns with the vision of Grove City. We’re excited to work together, and to see some of their brightest students contribute to the larger community of next generation entrepreneurs in the Praxis Academy community.” Jon Hart, partner at Praxis who leads Praxis Academy, said.

“Our relationship with Praxis has evolved over the past couple of years,” Yvonne English ’97, executive director of the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, said. “We started by sending a group of students to the summer Praxis Academy in 2015. Our students raved so much about their experience that we explored a deeper connection with the organization.”

The Grove City College community will have exposure to the global network of entrepreneurs in Praxis during an on-campus workshop on April 22, 2017. This event will feature practitioners who are leading high-growth startups – sharing leading-edge insights, lessons and stories at the intersection of theology, culture and entrepreneurship. The workshop will be open to all Grove City College students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members as space allows. Since the workshop will be held in conjunction with an admissions event, prospective students and their parents will also have the opportunity to register and attend. If you are interested in finding out more information, please sign up for the interest list with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation via the Center’s website.

In addition, 10 Grove City College students and two faculty members will attend the 2017 Praxis Academy Annual Gathering from July 31 to Aug. 4 in Los Angeles, Calif. The Academy will convene top students for an intensive, five-day seminar centered on a vision for redemptive entrepreneurship. Students are selected for Praxis Academy through an application process focused on applicants’ theological vision, cultural imagination and track record of innovation.

“We feel that, in Praxis, we have found a like-minded organization with a powerful message that resonates with our students,” English said.
