Gibson named Grove City College athletic director

Grove City College has named Todd D. Gibson ’02 as the College’s athletic director. Gibson, an assistant professor of exercise science and head men's and women's track and field coach, has served as interim athletic director since the retirement of Dr. Don Lyle last spring.

Gibson joined the College’s faculty in 2004 as a member of the Exercise Science and Physical Education Department. During the 2014-15 academic year, he worked as Grove City’s assistant athletic director. In that role, Gibson handled a variety of administrative duties, including the athletics budget, game management and transportation scheduling.

“Todd Gibson has done a tremendous job as interim athletic director and his record of success as our track and field coach over the last five years affirms a strong commitment to athletic excellence. Most importantly, he is committed to building a varsity athletics program that is known nationally for being a culture of character, sportsmanship and student-athletic achievement,” President Paul J. McNulty ’80 said.

Gibson graduated from Grove City with a bachelor's degree in political science. As a student-athlete at Grove City, he played football for four seasons as a split end from 1998 to 2001. He led the team in receiving during his senior year. He helped to advance Wolverine football to the conference title in 1998 and runner-up finishes in 1999 and 2000. In addition to his track and field mentorship, he has served as an assistant football coach for more than a decade.

Additionally, Gibson holds a bachelor's degree in integrated social studies/secondary education from Youngstown State University and completed a master's degree in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania. Gibson is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a performance enhancement specialist. He resides in Mars, Pa., with his wife Richelle and their daughter Madeline.
