Concert Choir is comprised of students who rehearse for one hour, three times a week. At Christmas and Easter, the choir participates in a choral concert program. Members may receive one credit per semester. Membership is competitive, based upon auditions held in September and January.
The College Bands are offered as curricular and co-curricular offerings and include the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Wolverine Marching Band (comprised of instrumentalists, Marquettes, Flaglines, and Twirlers), and various small ensembles. All students regardless of academic major are eligible to audition for the various bands, which perform at campus events and special functions off campus. Auditions for instrumental ensembles take place during the first week of the fall semester. (Eligible for one college credit.)
The College Orchestras include the Symphonic Orchestra (full strings, winds, and percussion) and the Chamber Orchestra (string orchestra), which are offered as curricular and co-curricular offerings. String quartets, trios, and other various small ensembles are available for interested students and perform concerts on and off campus. Auditions for instrumental ensembles take place during the first week of the fall semester. (Eligible for one college credit.)
The Grove City College Glee Club performs a wide repertoire of classical, doo-wop, barbershop, and traditional collegiate glee club music in the time-honored tradition of men's choral singing. The club is beloved by the campus community and regularly performs on campus, in churches, and within the local community.
The Grove City College Singers is a women’s choir offered through the Department of Music as a co-curricular ensemble. The group presents concerts on and off campus each semester. Auditions take place during the first week of the fall semester.
Chosen by audition early in the fall semester, members of these groups perform for many college functions, alumni meetings, and high school assemblies as well as concerts during the spring semester. Each group has a student director who assists with rehearsal, music selection, and concert performances.
The Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Assocation student chapter is comprised of students interested in the teaching of music and the promotion of music education as a profession. The organization provides a forum for students to engage in professional activities and discussions with educators relative to music education. Membership is open to music majors and anyone interested in the promotion of the music field.
Touring Choir is comprised of 45 singers chosen at the beginning of the academic year. The choir seeks to praise and glorify God and to minister to others through music as they strive to achieve choral excellence. In addition to its annual spring tour, the choir performs at various campus events and for churches and schools in the Western Pennsylvania area.
